Outdoor Kitchens Gold Coast

An outdoor kitchen designed and built as part of the whole space, from the bench and its stone or rendered finish to the paving, planting and lighting around it.

Bella Terra Group builds outdoor kitchens across the Gold Coast as part of larger outdoor projects, from our base in Nerang. We build the bench and its base, its natural stone or rendered finish, and the paving, decking, planting and lighting of the entertaining area around it, so the outdoor kitchen belongs to the space it sits in. Quotes are free and measured on site.

Many outdoor kitchens are bought as a product: a barbecue unit and a run of cabinets, delivered and set on whatever surface is already there. We start with the space instead, and plan the bench with the terrace it stands on, the walls behind it and the way you move between the house, the pool and the seating.

That matters because a bench is heavy and permanent. It needs a solid base, a level the paving meets cleanly, and a route for gas, water and power before any stone goes down. Our owner, Dion McGirr, oversees the work on site and is your contact from the first meeting to the finish.

The two halves

What Makes an Outdoor Kitchen Work?

A good outdoor kitchen balances two things. The kitchen itself, meaning the bench, its finish and the appliances it holds, has to be solid, practical to cook at and built to sit outdoors all year. The space around it, meaning the paving, seating, planting and lighting, decides whether anyone wants to stay once the cooking is done.

A well-made bench on an uneven slab looks like an afterthought, and a handsome terrace with nowhere to prepare food sends everyone back inside.

We design the two together. The bench position, the service routes and the light points are drawn into the design before the paving is laid, so nothing has to be cut out or lifted later.

The work

Our Outdoor Kitchen Services

Our own team carries out the work below under our QBCC builder’s licence. The gas, plumbing and electrical connections are made by licensed tradespeople. Tell us how you like to cook and entertain, and we’ll suggest the parts the space needs.

The kitchen bench and its finish

The bench is the part of an outdoor kitchen you see first and use most, so its structure and finish deserve the same care as any wall on the property. Built on a poor base, or finished in a material that doesn't suit an exposed position, it cracks, stains or starts to come away within a few seasons.

Here's what our outdoor kitchen bench work covers.

  • Kitchen benches in block, natural stone or render
  • Natural stone cladding on the bench front and ends
  • Rendered finishes to match the house and the garden walls
  • Bench openings planned around the barbecue and appliances you choose
  • Built-in bench seating and planters beside the kitchen

The terrace, lighting and planting around it

The area around the kitchen decides how the space works on an ordinary evening, and where people stand, sit and walk while someone cooks. We lay it out so the cook stays part of the conversation and the path from the back door to the bench stays clear.

Here's what our work around the kitchen covers.

  • Paving for the terrace in crazy paving, natural stone or porcelain
  • Hardwood and composite decking beside the cooking area
  • Joint sealing on tiled terraces, with our sealing partner Archiseal
  • Outdoor lighting for the bench, steps and garden, wired by a licensed electrician
  • Garden beds, screening plants and natural turf around the entertaining area

Every outdoor kitchen quote starts with a visit to your property, so we can see where a kitchen could sit, how the ground falls and how far gas, water and power would need to travel before anything is priced.

During the visit we measure the area and talk through the bench finishes, paving and lighting that would suit it, including how each one weathers, what upkeep it needs and what it costs. That way you can weigh the options against your budget before committing.

The process

Our Process

Every outdoor kitchen starts with understanding how you cook and entertain. From there, it runs in three stages.

  1. Consultation and site assessment. We check the levels, drainage, access and existing paving, and ask how many people you usually host.
  2. An itemised quote. Every part of the job is priced separately, so you can see what each element costs and stage the work if that suits you better.
  3. The work itself. Our team builds it in the order below, and Dion hands the finished space back to you.

Why Does the Order of Works Matter?

The order matters because the kitchen sits on top of everything else. Lay the terrace before the services reach the bench, and finished stone has to be cut up again.

  1. Design and set-out. The bench position, terrace layout and finishes are settled in the design, then marked out on site.
  2. Excavation, levels and drainage. The ground is dug out and levelled, with drainage falling away from the house.
  3. Service routes. The licensed trades run gas, water and power to the bench position before the base goes in, so nothing is cut through finished stone later.
  4. The base and the bench. The base goes down, and the bench is built on it to the finished height of the terrace.
  5. Paving and finishes. The terrace is laid around the bench, the cladding or render goes on, and the joints are sealed.
  6. Planting, lighting and connections, last. Plants, light fittings and the final connections go in once the heavy work is finished.

Our outdoor kitchens are usually part of a larger project, like these entertaining spaces: a walled courtyard in Burleigh Heads and a crazy paved terrace beside a pool. Addresses and names stay private, so each photo is captioned with the work alone.

Why Bella Terra Group

Choosing Bella Terra Group for Your Outdoor Kitchen

Our owner, Dion McGirr, has been in the trade for over 14 years. Our outdoor kitchens are built alongside the paving, walls, decking and planting of the same space, and you can see that wider work in our project gallery.

Each project is designed and built by the same company, under QBCC licence 15452813, with Dion overseeing the work on site. One client found the team “very professional and easy to work with from the initial consultation to the final walk-through.” Another, after a backyard renovation built around a new entertaining area, said “Dion’s guidance and expertise made the whole process so easy.”

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does an outdoor kitchen cost on the Gold Coast?

The cost depends on the length of the bench, the finish you choose, how much paving and landscaping surrounds it, and how far the gas, water and power have to travel. A kitchen built into a new terrace is priced very differently from one added to an existing space, so we measure the area on site and prepare an itemised quote at no charge.

Can you build an outdoor kitchen as part of a full backyard renovation?

Yes. We build outdoor kitchens as part of a larger project. The kitchen is designed with the paving, walls, decking, planting and lighting of the same space, and our team builds them together, so you deal with one company for the whole space.

How do I know the finished outdoor kitchen will look the way I picture it?

Agree the design in detail before anything is built. We settle the bench position, its finish and the terrace layout with you, then mark them out on site, so you can stand where the kitchen will be before work starts.

How do I choose an outdoor kitchen builder on the Gold Coast?

Look at entertaining areas the company has finished and check its licence on the QBCC register. Then ask who connects the gas, water and power, and when those service routes go in. A builder who plans them before the terrace is laid won't need to cut finished stone later.

Who connects the gas, water and power to an outdoor kitchen in Queensland?

They are made by licensed tradespeople. In Queensland, all regulated plumbing and drainage work must be done by a licensed plumber or drainer, and the gas and electrical connections need their own licensed trades. We build the base, the bench and the terrace, and plan the service routes so those connections are made cleanly.
